Eggarat Wongcharit

Eggarat studied at Pratt Institute( New York) in graphic design and trained in advertising field for 5 years before shifting into a new experience in 3 dimensional design when he  studied at Domus academy ( Milan) in 1987. Eggarat has practised his furniture design skill by training at Studio Paolo Nava while freelancing for other local furniture  companies in Brianza for 5 years. He started his furniture  manufacturing process when he came back to Thailand in 1993 and established studio Egg-Karat where he merged traditional Thai craft techniques with modern process of manufacturing and created a range of furniture that expressed Thai design DNA.


In 2003, he has established "Crafactor", a local furniture brand that aims to export its furniture products to global market. At present, the products are sold to many shop retails, boutique hotels and residential projects around the globe. Many of his international and local award winning furniture objects have gained reputation among international medias.


Eggarat's skills in graphics, furniture, products and interior design are also reflected in various design projects including Iniala beach hotel project in Phuket , Thailand where his versatility is reflected in Villa Siam. In 2012, with his future vision in promoting Thailand's brand image identity at global scope, Eggarat has created "Slow Hand Design" aiming to promote the country's brand image identity during Milan's International design week event. The exhibition intends to showcase objects produced by local manufacturers that reflect their Thai design DNA with global functionalities. The exhibition is supported by the royal Thai government's Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP).


Eggarat also finds his interest in design education. With his previous experiences in leading and teaching at the Master of fine arts program in design at Rangsit university (1994-2010), Eggarat  has evolved his realistic skills of design, production and marketing to create professional training  workshop for his exclusive clients. At present, he still pursue on his own design path to further develop and produce projects for global market channel.
